During the Second World War my Grandfather worked as a quantity surveyor. One of his jobs was to do with airfield runways and as such he was in a reserved occupation so he was never called up into the forces. He is now 91 years old and has recently moved into a home. While we were clearing out his house we came across a collection of documents etc relating to these two periods.
These
are his Air Raid Warden shoulder flashes.
An
ARP cap badge I think.
The
badge of the Chester Division of the Civil Defence Corps. The Latin is the
motto of the City of Chester.
A
National Fire Service button. I found eight of these. Not sure whey
he had them really!
In 1960 he joined the local Civil Defence Corps and served until it was disbanded in 1969. The following documents were found in an old leather brief case in the loft.

We also found this 1953-1954 ration book.
More to come soon. I have many more documents and letters and when I get the time I will ad them to this page.
